Stepping out of the shadows, mysterious London based producer Ben Khan has just released “Drive (Part 1)”, his first track to hit the internet. With a half a nod to the past but both eyes set firmly on the future, the young producer has crafted a deeply hypnotic, ominous soundscape; his reverb-heavy vocals juxtaposed against a bed of snarling mid range bass and eerie atmospherics. Despite the brooding, melancholic lilt of this introductory single and a far from linear approach to songwriting, there are hints of a pop inspired immediacy to “Drive (Part 1)” that suggests Ben Khan might be a producer with more than a few hooks up his sleeve. Only time will tell, but in the meantime we’ve chalked Ben up on our ‘one’s to watch’ list and are eagerly awaiting his second installment of “Drive”.
