Kevin "The Bug" Martin wanted a hit and who else are you going to get to guarantee some press other than the eccentric Danny Brown. Everything that the Detroit man has been featured in since joining A-Trak's Fool's Gold Records has been a big tune. Thrown into the recipe of the song are hints of dubstep, dancehall and grime that in somewhat reflects the name of the track.
This is definitely a hard hitting rap song with the production having an emphasis on Brown's beloved grime. Brown and the production compete for your ear and of course Danny Brown wins talking about caesar salads, pinot grigio and a variety of things you wouldn't expect in grimey rap song. Along with all this going on Kiki Hitomi adds some rather pleasant vocals.
"Freakshow"will be featured on The Bug's upcoming four track EP, Filthy, which will be released digitally by Ninja Tune on August 6 and physically August 12.
