Free n Losh – "Where Do They Go?"

The Toronto-based duo, Free n Losh, have been making a presence recently with their unique and classy infusion of electronic beats and down-tempo melodies. Their latest track, “Where Do They Go,” is no exception to this notion. The dark and sexy remake of The Mills Brothers, “Smoke Rings,” led my imagination to a dimly lit bar where everything shimmers in black and white, while a smoky haze floods the room. I look over my shoulder and see Duke Ellington doing the same, slowly rocking to Lee and Myles’ time-withstanding use of snare and high-hat syncopation, all while complementing the muted trumpet beautifully. Smooth as silk at 105 BPM’s, perhaps this “jazz-trap” can be the ideal intersection of a WWII-era Manhattan nightclub and 2013-era Brooklyn warehouse. Take a listen and show them some love on Hypem.
