EDM extraordinaire Diplo has been my favorite producer for a while now. Ever since I heard an interview on NPR where he talked about his music, his style, and his yearning to experiment and bring new sounds to the masses, I was hooked. He’s worked with pop sensations Beyonce and Usher, and the kooky Eric Wareheim from Tim & Eric has a hand in directing some nutty music videos for him (i.e “Pon De Floor.”)
Diplo always has a knack for bringing light to new innovative artists in the electronic scene. Recently, he released two mixes, titled Lazer Strikes Back Vol 1. & 2. From these mixes, I’ve discovered Yellow Claw, The Reef, and Blood Diamonds. Most recently Diplo released a new mix titled Keep It Gully EP. He collaborated with Mad Decent artist Swick, who hails from Melbourne, Australia and boasts a gnarly jungle sound. This mix is straight jungle crunk fire and is sure to get you twerkin' this weekend in preparation from St. Patty’s debauchery.
