The members behind Brooklyn-based Follow Me serve up today's Daily 2%, taking us back just ten years to the days of AOL, PS2, Elian Gonzalez and the height of success for one of the decade's most beloved hip hop girl groups, TLC. 2000 was the year they released "Unpretty", further cementing their importance in the minds of nearly any 90s kid.
Fast forward thirteen years: Ke$ha is singing about dying young, Azaelia Banks gets to flash her boobs at Karl Lagerfeld at will, and this track still bangs. But I digress. For the most part, Follow Me preserves the track's inherent 90s vibe, building heavily upon the meditative elements of the original and in doing so, you don't feel as though an heirloom has been fucked with. Rather it's been tastefully appraised and updated to serve the purposes of a generation whose attention span clocks out at around 5 seconds (or less). Either way, you've got a favorite classic set to some massively satisfying dance vibes.
Check out the track and chill…
