Rachel Row's a relative newcomer to the dance scene, cute in looks, HOT on vocals! She's been working with ace producer KiNK (of Ovum/Rush Hour labels) on a string of really nice releases (see the Handmade EP). This time she brings us Follow the Step, a 4-track EP that rocks, chills, and lifts you up when you're feelin' down.
The original mix is a slow builder of a tune that features nice chimes with distorted bass lines and, of course, Row's blissful vocals. The KiNK remixes are no doubt the highlights of the EP. The extraordinary producer from Bulgaria soothes listeners with plenty of vocal effects and energy only to drop you to shuffling drum patterns and repetitive keys to drive beauty mad. And not to be overlooked, the Trikk remix is a breath of fresh air. Vocals in and out and lovely key stabs make this a track lovely to come down to.
This is a great EP of a classic vocalist meeting modern and unique electronic sounds. Row's voice is special and so is this EP.
