Canada seems to be a breeding ground for some of my favorite new house artists, one of those being Dzeko & Torres. All their releases have been music to my ears, especially “Y3AH!” with ANSOL, which has been on repeat for about a month now. HEY just dropped on Dim Mak Records, and the debut EP seriously blows my mind. It features three tracks, two of which I’ve never heard and one that has been floating around for a while.
“Buppy” made its way to the blogs a few months ago, peeking people’s interest with a very refined grind and great production quality. I’d definitely say it is a great introduction track. “Hey” runs on a circulating electro riff and more progressive chords, floating on a four-on-the-floor baseline. A moment of silence catches you before the drop, calling out through this descending measure of pinging beats. However, “Check This Out” seriously caught my attention, containing a magical melody that reminds me of the Zelda for some odd reason (maybe because it is just that epic). You’ll find it between festival-worthy drops, layered over this continuous running line that serves as the backbone of the song.
All-in-all Dzeko & Torres delivered an incredibly strong first EP, which will hopefully only be a precursor to continued success.
