After playing what they deemed a "dream come true" performance at Brixton Academy just yesterday night, The xx were at BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge the very next morning to craft a hazy cover of the quintessential Wham! Christmas jam, "Last Christmas". Nuanced and full of longing, the cover sounds more like their first album than anything they've put out since, well, their first album only with less hip-hop and more synth. It's a nice redirection for a track we hear (overplayed) nearly every year and particularly nice if, say, you found yourself passing on Coexist.
