After a four-year hiatus from the music world, Solange is back and has made quite the return with the audio and visual premiere of her new single "Losing You". After teasing listeners with a creative and painfully brief teaser trailer of her newly released single last month, the accomplished singer-songwriter has signaled her official return with the release of her Melina Matsoukas-directed video for her new funky, clap-happy, disco-flavored record.
Inspired by Italian photographer Daniele Tamagni and shot in Cape Town, South Africa, the visuals for the breezy, mid-tempo dance tune features amazing shots of Solange showing off her dance moves alongside friends and fashion minded members of South Africa's Le Sapeur community.
Despite the song's upbeat, buttery pop-stylings, the lyrics tell quite different story. Written by Solange and Dev Hynes and produced by Blood Orange, "Losing You" is the lead single off Solange's as-of-yet untitled forthcoming third album which is the follow-up to her Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (2008) and marks her first release as a signee on the independent label Terrible Records. Check out the colorful video for "Losing You" and prepare to wait it out a bit longer as we collectively await the singer-songwriter's long-awaited third LP.
