Could Clockwork’s “Titan” be improved? Well, I’m not really sure, as the original may very well be one of my favorite tracks of 2012. However, it certainly can be taken in a new and exciting direction, which is exactly what the American DJ and producer Aylen has done in his minimalized version of the electro house banger. Much of the noise has been cleared away, leaving the track with a strong metallic sound that accompanies the few remaining elements of the original. Personally, I am a fan of the song’s layering, with syncopated highs and mids layered over steadier thumping lows. While Coyote Kisses took the gold medal in Mad Decent’s “Titan” remix contest, Aylen’s version is the winner in my books.
