The hip hop wires are buzzing with news of further collaborations between Brooklyn native Yasiin Bey and NOLA fixture, Mannie Fresh. A recent NOLA transplant by way of Brooklyn, Bey as well as Fresh were both featured on Dee-1's "The Very Best" which was released not more than a week ago.
To begin preparing the general public for "the classic" Mannie Fresh speaks of, Bey and Fresh have unleashed two BTS videos, Act 1 and Act 2, capturing the creative process for what will eventually be OMFGOD. Whether Dee-1 will be included on the final track is up for speculation (though the growing star is in both videos). Footage on Act 2 shows a 2007 interview with the artist formerly known as Mos Def, expressing heavy interest in working with Fresh, the legendary beatmeaker. Come 2012, things have come full circle. Both videos reveal large portions of their unreleased work, in addition to a lot of ad-libbing and freestyling over fresh joints from the Mannie's beat factory. "You know what's so fresh with this?" Bey asks in the studio. "That the corporations ain't have nothing to do with this shit." As they say, "When in New Orleans…"
