I'd challenge anyone to find techno that fills a room quite as heavily as the tracks of Bryan Black, alias Black Asteroid. Based out of New York, he's also spent time in Minneapolis and London, involving himself in a swarth of projects ranging from working on sound production for Prince to working as a live duo with Motor. His live shows are a uniquely dark experience to behold, a transcendant kind of dance party where the things your body is doing leave your control and exist on a totally different plane.
Released September 10 on Electric Deluxe, his new Black Acid EP is kind of like pushing your way through the blackest sludge and we like it that way. Despite their viscosity, there's something very listenable and almost catchy — but not at all in the conventional sense of the word — about these four tracks. Stream the entire EP below:
