If there was kit for successfully starting summer, Crystal Fighter's LP Star of Love would be in it. Dropping their EP Plage just a few months ago, their North American tour begins in the next few weeks and they recently stopped by The Warner Sound studios to discuss their 2010 release, Star of Love. While other groups are taking their sound to task by trying to reinvent themselves, Crystal Fighters essentially invented an entirely knew genre of music which involves a hybrid of traditional Basque music with electro-funk dance beats. The result is equal parts enigmatic, unconventional but entirely likeable — and, maybe more importantly — very danceable.
