Girl Unit – Club Rez [EP]

Since his monumental Wut EP from October 2010, releases from Girl Unit have since only come in the form of remixes for artists such as Breton's "RDI," Lunice's "I See U," and – most recently – the Kodiak "Spreo Superbus" remix that, in my humble opinion, marginally beats the original. Since "IRL" and of course "Wut," Girl Unit solidified his status as one of the most forward-thinking producers fusing the rolling drums and kicks we’d expect from a Rick Ross track with addictive and danceable rhythms. May 7 marks his long-awaited return, dropping his Club Rez EP, again, through the absurdly consistent and innovative Night Slugs label. Further waxing that hip hop swagger of the Wut EP’s “Showstoppa” and his "RDI" remix, “Club Rez” fuses this established gangster lean with the standard futuristic Night Slug sound palette and a very retro vibe. Special shouts go out to Sina Taherkhani and NS head-honcho Bok Bok for that typically brilliant artwork we’ve come to expect. Stream the title track below:
