Myrryrs – I'm A State of Mind [EP]

Tennessee's bass griller Myrryrs has been going no where but up since his first rack of releases in 2011. All must grabs for anyone that likes to moss in the blue, Feel U became a summer lust lullaby played many times over. On a deeper note, his last serving Blood of a Slave put out on Parisian bass label B.YRSLF Division showcased a more cathartic side to Myrryrs with tracks like "Paradis Parka" wallowing in lovesick hooks and the A-side absorbed in half-step melancholy. His latest came out today and can be heard on Jerome (1/2 of LOL Boys) and Samo Sound Boy's recent Californian start up Body High. I'm A State of Mind dictates the liner, and the affection that booms out of these tracks lives up to the name and demeanor of a label strung out on low end. If it sounds like deja-vu, that's because it is.

Myrryrs was featured in our Weekend Selector guest mix series and cued up these tunes in advance for our EARMILK readers. The purple number "Fantom Doze" being the highlight and easily his best work in the garage yet. And of course who can't pass without mentioning the title track which is sure to be rinsed to bits this summer. Tracks like "Pulse Wave" and "Nimh" venture into some conventional development with stripped drum patterns bent more on the minimal side but not forgiving when it comes to trembling sub bass. Overall it's a tight package for everyone, from the 60 Hz critique leaning up back stage to the dude in the crowd that still wears his pants two sizes too big.
