Prior to Different Faces, Felix has been known for his heavy, aggressive, sweat-inducing dance floor tracks. Fans of his earlier sets will be pleased to find Different Faces contains a plethora of chest-throbbing tracks, but as showcased by the singles “Don’t Turn on the Lights” and “Black to White,” Felix is using his 2nd LP to broadcast a new-found versatility in his production.
Having matured his sound over previous works, Felix set out to create “memorable music” on the forthcoming album. “Higher” is the working embodiment of what “memorable music” depicts. In a reflective appearance, the song bellows that there is “A fine line between bravery and insanity,” engrossed with lyrics by label-mates New Ivory. Layered seamlessly over Felix’s fueling beats, the lyrics alone are sure to bring many fans teetering along that line. Whether fist-pumping in the club or banging your steering-wheel in the car, this track is enough to get you going.
Not being pigeonholed to any one sound, Felix Cartal is looking to transcend his music to a new level, and whether that means dropping club bangers or melodic ballads — Felix will not go unnoticed. With new tools in his arsenal, his upcoming album looks to have something for everyone, from the seasoned vets to the ‘wet behind the ear’ rookie.
Keep an eye out for Different Faces, dropping on March 27th or available for pre-order now on iTunes.
