Pretty Lights Music's electronic genre-bender Paper Diamond takes hipster R&B guru The Weeknd's "Same Old Song" and morphs it into a dreamy but still party-friendly dance track. When you put Abel Tesfaye's silky smooth vocals on any track it's pure gold, but Paper Diamond speeds it up and adds some talking bass. The percussion is perfectly cut and arranged and the modest drop into the chorus blends easy.
I was able to attend one of Paper Diamond's shows at the Snowglobe Music Festival. The dude uses an iPad in his DJ set, pretty 22nd century if you ask me. He told me he had a exclusive for us. I knew it was going to be quality, but this is huge.
