There are thousands of popular artists out there today making new singles all the time. With the increase of bedroom producers, though, the ability to simply download a whole studio that you can use right on your lap has made original songs more scarce. Now it seems that you're finding tens of thousands of remixes by artists with more and more ludicrous names, leaving you wondering "Transexual Viking Sword Bro — what?" This weekly segment will bring you the popular remixes and the never heard of "Transexual Viking Sword Brothers" remixes of a (common) artist's singles. From all these bedroom producers we are seeing one thing, and that is absolutely fantastic, manipulated, warped remixes.
Mord Fustang is an up and coming artist who's only released 6 originals and 3 remixes so far and has already gained much praise from all over the music world. He is definitely one of my personal favourite electro house producers right now in the industry and I have only high hopes for him. Mord Fustang is currently signed on Plasma Pool Records, which is an amazing record company that one must simply check out. They have a lot of very electro house artists. Also I know I didn't feature a lot of remixes from his EP. Do you think I want to be sued?
Now Artist Remixed readers, if you've followed my weekly posts for a while you're probably familiar with the usual set up of genres of music. This week is a little different. I couldn't assemble enough remixes in total let alone in enough variety to give you a mix of different genres of music. Instead I'm going to give you my 5 favourite remixes and 2 favourite mashups. Then just an added slur of other amazing remixes and mashups of Mord Fustang.
TOP FIVE FAVOURITE REMIXES
5th Digital Product Remix
The Digital Product remix starts you off going at a high speed beat which than takes you into a a dubstep drop. The whole remix is a cocaine speed view of the original track. High speed, high tension, high standard remix.
4th Saber VIP Edit
Saber's VIP edit of "A New World" is one for the "electro-step" fans. It has all your electro parts but then throws in dinosaur dubstep scratching away at the track to create something completely new. The beginning of the song starts off with a fast paced, catchy intro that immediately grabs your attention. The first drop is being eaten away by dinosaurs while the second is the original drop but has just been slowed down. It's almost as if it's trying to say this is what's been changed and this is now what you once had.
3rd OVERWERK Remix
OVERWERK, who hails from London ON (reppin'), has been around the electro scene for quite some time and is, as well, one of my favourite electro house producers. Hence, I was ecstatic when I first saw the name of this remix. Big things were expected=big things were given. This remix is simply a cross between the electro house side and the dubstep side. The main milk of this remix is constantly hopping back and forth from electro to dubstep sounds. It has a very poppy feel as most OVERWERK's music usually does.
2nd Vodge Diper Remix
Vodge Diper? Hmm, isn't there a car called Dodge Viper? Seems only fitting that Vodge Diper remixes Mord Fustang, now doesn't it. Vodge Diper's remix comes in second for having such heavy dubstep, something that we will probably never see from Mord himself. In which case Vodge's dub is introduced to us by surprise when the original drops. Through scratching womps and heavy screams of surprise we are taken from our usual world of electro house Mord was living in and put in the world of Vodge.
1st Mark Mackenzie Remix
My overall favourite remix is the Mark Mackenzie remix. This remix starts you off like the original, then brings in a jumpy noise which reminds me of something I could definitely see Mord himself using in a remix. The whole track reminds me so much of Mord Fustang. The first drop brings in what sounds like a light vocal which is chopped and jagged and yet still reminds me of Mord! The remix is broken down even further with a heavy bass wobbling synth that is sprinkled with parts from the original. The track than goes into a wobbly synth shaking you down, it's practically the remix strip searching the original. This is by far my favourite remix because there are so many different amazing sounds in here, all of which will blow your mind.
TOP 3 MASHUPS
3rd Pudlik Mashup
This mashup brings you such a nice beat of Daft Punk's "Stronger" vocals mixed with "The Electric Dream." Pretty much just the vocals over top of Electric Dream but I love the original by Daft Punk and the robot voices work well with Mord's sounds. Enjoy.
2nd DJ Burnout Mashup
Yea, bring all that hate readers, you feel that? That's a Britney Spears vs Mord mashup beating a Daft Punk vs Mord mashup. Why? Because top 40 music may be over-played, over-priced and over-rated, but damn is it catchy. I mean sure, Britney Spears is kind of a joke now, but her voice will always get stuck in your head for days. Pretty sure that's a win as well. That burn readers? That hurt?
1st DJ Tradeback Mashup
This mashup is pretty popular and was probably the most listened to mashup I found. For good reason as well. This mashup is going to get louder, it's going to get better, you're going to have to reach higher. Pretty lame attempt at incorporating the lyrics into the review, oh well. Just enjoy the mashup.
OTHERS THAT RECEIVE HONOURABLE MENTION
The rest were all superb, I loved every single remix I heard, except for a few, which aren't in here… Regardless, make sure you check these tracks out aswell, highlights on Ipaneema vocal mix, which is close to my favourite remix but is a vocal mix so I wasn't sure where to put it. Enjoy!
