Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós recently revealed details for their upcoming release of Inni, a film/live album combination set to come out this November via XL Recordings.
Inni, directed by Vincent Morisset, the same man who directed Arcade Fire's Miroir Noir, was filmed over the course of two nights during Sigor Rós' last show at London's Alexandra Palace. The performance was filmed prior to the band's decision to go on an "indefinite hiatus" at the end of 2008.
According to the band's website, in order to express the film's elegance and atmosphere, Morisset re-filmed the original digital footage on a 16mm camera, which was re-filmed again through prisms and "other found objects." This complicated post-production process was aimed at giving Inni the look and feel of watching a film from the past. The live album was put together by the band's in-house studio engineer, Birgir Jón Birgisson, who recorded the entire hour and 45 minute performance (with the omission of one song).
Inni will make its first debut at the Venice Film Festival on September 3.
