Benjamin Francis Leftwich is taking over my "Recently Played" smart playlist. The kid from Yorkshire is truly something special. If you took William Fitzsimmons and Jose Gonzalez, added a touch of John Mayer, mixed it all together and presented it to the world- You might be able to concoct an artist for the masses that is on Ben's level. His debut album Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm comes out next monday (July 4th), but luckily for us he let loose an album sampler a few days ago. I've had a chance to listen to the full album and It's right there next to Gregory Alan Isakov's This Empty Northern Hemisphere as the two highest rated albums in my library. Each song on it's own is captivating, and there isn't a single track not worth a second or third listen. Tomorrow Ben is releasing a stream of the full album on the UK website www.thisisfakediy.co.uk and I can't wait to see the response it gets. For now, here's the album sampler. Check it. Like it. Share it.
