Barn Owl – Shadowland EP

Barn Owl. The duo from San Francisco truly is a pain in the ass to do research on- I couldn't even find a band page for them let alone articles that were about them and not the large-eyed aviators of the night. Nevertheless, I searched, I found, and I conquered- because these guys need to be noticed. Guitarists Jon Porras and Evan Caminiti started playing music together after they met in an American Indian science class at San Francisco State in 2005, and released their first album From Our Mouths a Perpetual Light in 2009. They released their latest EP Shadowland on Tuesday. If you took Explosions In The Sky, made them more haunting and added the sound Clint Mansell produced for the Requiem For A Dream soundtrack, you'd end up with Barn Owl. Each song on the EP sounds like something from a movie soundtrack- not to mention their length. The EP is just under 24 minutes long and only has three songs on it- the longest being "Infinite Reach" at 10:51. You can download the EP on iTunes, and I highly suggest it. Check it. Like it. Share it. It's Barn Owl, here to take you places you've never been before.

Music Blogger/ Indie Music Consultant/ PR Representative/ Musician/ Artist/ Entreprenuer/ Comedian/ Music World: Contact Me. Upon this day, I declare that Indie music is leaps and bounds more pure than anything else, and the Term "Indie" means not that a band isn't mainstream, but that a band has been able to hold on to its roots, even through fame and fortune. While the wonderful thumps and womps of electronic music gets me grooving, it will always be the Alternative Indie Rock that guides me to the homeland. And for that -- I both thank it and applaud it -- for it has brought me great pleasure in the past and will so in the future.
