This year will be the 12th edition of Mutek Festival, held in Montreal.  Billing itself as a festival of 'digital creativity and music,' Mutek is sure to please both the eyes and ears of all who attend.  Last year's lineup included some pretty high quality acts; Actress, Matias Aguayo, Pepe Bradrock, and Demdike Stare to name a few.  This year's lineup definitely matches, if not surpasses, the number of talented performers and producers slotted for Mutek's program.  Some of the biggest names in this year's festival include Canadian minimal legend Plastikman, Border Community artists Luke Abbott and James Holden, and Four Tet. Also performing will be Floating Points, Amon Tobin, Echospace, Gold Panda, Electro Guzzi, FaltyDL, and Modeselektor to name a few.  With a lineup like that, paying for a ticket is definitely worth while.

Can't afford a full ticket for the festival? Never fear.  Mutek offers single event tickets, weekend passes, lite weekend passes and full festival passes ranging from $10 for the cheapest single event to $200 for the full festival passport.

Not only accompanied by stellar pleasure for your ears, Mutek is also an outlet for the forefront of visual digital creativity.  Their A/Visions series attempt to unify the relationship between vision and sound; combining intricate visuals with some of the more experimental sounds of Mutek artists.  You can check out some of the photos from last year's festival to get an idea of the mindblowing experience Mutek is sure to offer here.

Mutek is proving to be Canada's top festival for creatively inspiring music and art, and putting Montreal on the map in the digital art world.  If you're coming from Toronto, the 6+ hour drive to Montreal might seem like too much, but you can stop at some of these crappy Canadian tourist sights along the 401 to keep you entertained until Mutek begins.

Mutek will surely be a festival not to miss! The events will be taking over the streets of Montreal beginning today (June 1st) and continuing to run the city until Sunday, June 5th.

Here are a few of my favourite tracks from some of the headlining acts:

      10 - Brazil
Stream Only: Luke Abbott – Brazil

      02-four_tet-ribbons
Stream Only: Four Tet – Ribbons

      05-plastikman--helikopter

      01. Lump

Here are a couple cool videos of some of the things that sets Mutek apart from your typical music festival:
