KIDS AND CHEMICALS

If you're into the indie music scene at all you know what it means to discover the unheard.  I'm claiming firsties on this one y'all.  There is a hand full of people I can't legitimately claim that around.  But it's a small group.  At a relevant club or bar in any other city, it's mine.  They are Kids and Chemicals, brother and sister, Patrick and Liz Carney.  They played there debut show on Oct. 8th in their hometown and current base of operations, Springfield, MO.  They recently returned home from playing a pre-show at FunFunFunFest in Austin and getting back to finishing their debut EP, hopefully coming in early January.

Kids and Chemicals could easily fall into anything from trip-hop or chill to electro or dream pop.  You'll hear chill like samples as well as danceable beats.  Dark synths accompanied with haunting effects bring an erie mood.  Throw in some subtly intimate and emotional lyrics. Chopped up distorted vocals.  And you have pulsating brain vibrations from one ear to the other.  Tasteful wobbles are used in the Jolie Holland cover of "Morphine."  Electric guitars lay nicely behind the chorus in "Gone."  I can't decide if I want to dance, lean the seat back, or reminisce about loves I've lost.  Thanks to them I've become a master at multi tasking and do all three at the same time.

Spit out your bubblegum cause this ain't no candy colored electro pop.  I haven't found any music more fitting for the shorter days and change in seasons than Kids and Chemicals.  They sent me a few tracks just for y'all.  Throw on your hoodie and turn it up.  Keep up with them at https://www.kidsandchemicals.com or   https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kids-and-Chemicals/136455979720342
