International music and arts festival POP Montreal is gearing up for its seventeenth year of programming, set to take over the city September 26th-30th.
POP Montreal was launched in 2002 with the intent to highlight independence in the arts. As a result, the festival is filled with diverse programming. POP offers a wide range of emerging artists, of-the-moment talent and industry greats. The massive five day festival has announced their first wave of performers, which include notable talent such as electronic pop act SOPHIE, Scottish alt-rock royalty The Proclaimers, rockabilly pioneer Wanda Jackson, Blitzen Trapper, and Leif Vollebekk.
SXSW darlings and electronic folk-pop duo Saint Sister are set to make their Canadian debut. An intriguing collaboration between avant-garde electronic maverick Venetian Snares and U2 producer Daniel Lanois is also on the bill. The non-profit, artist-centric festival will host a variety of other arts programming including: Film POP, Art POP, POP Symposium, Puces POP, and Kids POP.
Passes are now available for purchase via the POP Montreal website.
