Emerging artist Georgia Starnes is the powerhouse vocalist we’ve been waiting for. The Texas born and bred multi-talent who has recent awed us on the current season of The Voice enraptures anyone who tunes in with her soaring musicality.
Educated at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas—with notable alumni including Norah Jones and Erykah Badu— Georgia has since relocated to Los Angeles with her mother, sharing a “bachelorette” pad full of life and love.
Since moving to California, she has performed across stages and recording studios, building her unique sound while expanding her palate for distinct sounds. Georgia’s own music can be found at the intersection of country, pop, and R&B in a section all her own called “Glitter Soul.”
Influenced by the likes of Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Beyonce, Adele, and Lady Gaga, Georgia has performed songs ranging from pop to R&B to alternative over the years. From attraction attention for her early cover versions of popular songs to enticing audiences as a contestant for The Voice, this year has been a dream for Georgia.
Pulled to a country-tinged acoustic artistry, Georgia speaks of her evolution, saying, “Artists naturally evolve. At this point, I see my evolution and where I’m going now. I’m always evolving and changing. The direction I’m going now is more in tune with my roots and true, authentic self. I’m finding my lane as an artist,” adds Georgia. “Mine is a country sound but still pop and bluesy, soulful.”
In addition to her participation in The Voice, Georgia is looking forward to releasing a soulful new single this year dubbed “You and I.” Written and produced by Nick Brown of the band MONA, the resonant yet intimate single brings out a side of Georgia that requires looking in from the outside as she seeks out connection within herself and others.
A promising talent with a long and versatile musical journey ahead, Georgia Starnes sets herself up an exciting force to be reckoned with.
