Festival season is here and in Alberta, that means Badlands Music Festival is right around the corner. As last year’s edition brought internationally acclaimed DJ superstars such as Krewella, Adventure Club, Kaskade, Steve Aoki, and more to Canada’s Olympic Park we grow more and more excited for the new roster of talent that has come to take Calgary by storm. By bringing in a variety of names that touch on all spectrums of electronic dance music such as Damian Lazarus, Glitch Mob, Ummet Ozcan, Bro Safari, and Lee Foss to name a few; we are all excited to have each of our music tastes satisfied. Flipside and contributing partners have been putting in countless hours of work this year to bring the hottest rising talent to Alberta. In the case of being an indecisive young adult as most of us are we are here to guide you on your Badlands experience with our artists to watch.
Dada Life
Notoriously some of the craziest DJs we’ve ever seen, hopefully we get to experience one of their record breaking pillow fights at Badlands this year. With a couple of singles from their next compilation tearing the charts up right now we are looking forward to more of their music that is sure to have people jumping by the masses. If you haven’t seen Dada Life you are in for a treat. This party is going to be BANANAS!

TJR
As the Melbourne Bounce sound continues to grow worldwide, TJR remains one of the forces behind making North America’s dance floors bounce. With fine-tuned DJ technicality and high energy tracks like “Ode to Oi” and “Whats Up Suckaz” we’ve seen TJ Rozdilsky control masses by the thousands. At festivals saturated with the biggest names in the world he continues to deliver a unique experience and will always remain as one of the most memorable sounds of the weekend.

Dvbbs
Fellow Canadians and Toronto natives Alex and Chris have taken the EDM scene by storm. The brothers saw a huge year in 2013 as they released hit after hit. The number one spot on beatport soon became a familiar spot for them to hold and before they knew it they were playing the biggest festivals in the world alongside the biggest DJs. With their intense brand of a sound and crazy stage presence, Dvbbs always comes through with a performance that will divide your energy in half! So drink lots of water and eat lots of pizza to make sure you have your fuel to “Never Stop the Fucking Rave!”

Heineken Future Stage
If you’re like some of us and are getting old and can’t seem to keep girls on your shoulders for very long anymore (let alone fist pump for eight hours) then don’t fret. Some of us have already discovered the deeper, darker, groovier sounds of the rising deep house and techno sound and we are more than excited to see some of the heavy hitters from that scene coming to educate us. With DJs like Art Department, Hot Since 82, Lee Foss and Anabel Englund (Pleasurestate), Damian Lazarus, and Wehbba those that are craving that underground sound will be able to two step the weekend away with the newly added Heineken Future Stage.
