Don't be fooled by New York's newest open air festival's title: with a lineup featuring Infected Mushroom, Shpongle, Noisia, Reid Speed, Mt Eden, and Liquid Stranger just to name a few, Down to Earth Music Festival is looking pretty interstellar so far. A ton of Hudson Valley-based artists also grace the lineup alongside frequent Bassnectar collaborators Luzcid, Jantsen, and Ill.Gates as well as Koan Sound, LTJ Bukum, Brightside, Emalkay, and so many others. It's all set to go down during the Great American Eclipse this August 18th – 21st at the Blue Mountain campsite in Saugerties, a woodsy town nestled in New York's Catskills.
It's organized by Conscious Minded Media, the team spearheaded by Hudson Valley's own dynamic experimental music and art duo known as COSMAL who brought Shpongle and others to the same spot in the woods for Cosmic Alignment of the Arts the past few summers, alongside Contrast productions.
According to the organizers, the party is intended to have a chill, down-to-earth vibe:
"Concept behind the festival is leaving behind materialism, pretentiousness and harmful attitude, while kicking back and listening to like-minded music in a laid back environment. No VIP, no preferred treatment; a place where everyone can feel equal to one another, and share untroubled time together."
With three-day passes currently going for $140, the festival offers bass connoisseurs more bang for their buck than most. Ticket prices go up to $170 at some point, but that's still a steal. Grab those on the website. For more information, head over to the festival's Facebook page.
