What do you get when you combine one of the avant-garde creators of our time with the digital generation? For Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté, it's his latest experiment, PY1, and more specifically PY1 Nights. The immersive, pyramid-shaped venue has set its first U.S. home base in Dallas, Texas, and opens its doors to the public on Tuesday, December 31, 2019.
With the same ingenuity as Cirque du Soleil, the venue will be turning your nighttime adventures into a space where technology meets dance floor and your participation in the experience becomes part of the storyline. With lasers, projections, special effects, spectacular lighting and the sounds of well-known DJs from around the world, PY1 nights will play host to themed nightlife expereinces including evenings such as Eye Wonder, a visit through space and the universe, and Candy World, a colorful voyage through psychedelia. Other evenings like Underworld, Astral Plane and Pop will take place every Saturday and during select nights of the holidays. Karnival, which is a celebration of Caribbean cultures and the spirit animal within, is an upcoming evening on January 17th, where Guy himself will be taking over the decks. These six unique visual and musical worlds will encourage guest participation by dressing up according to the theme. In addition to the focus on an immersive experience, DJs like Nicole Moudaber, Soul Clap, and Destructo have been slated to play in the first three weeks of the venue's opening.
This weekend they kick off with Underworld featuring Nicole Moudaber. Tickets for PY1 Nights start at $27 and can be purchased here. It's a new kind of entertainment and one we will be keeping our eyes on.
