Partnering with one of the most iconic recording studios in the country, Spotify will soon be unveiling a string of live EP's performed by past and current stars at the landmark Electric Lady Studios in Greenwich Village, New York.  Best known as the birthplace of Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland, the studio space has serviced genre-defining artists like Kanye West, Lady Gaga, U2, and Adele for over 50 years.  With its new series, Spotify will shine additional light on the oldest operational recording studio in the northeast as well as give a platform for musical titans and newcomers alike to showcase their live chops for millions of fans.

The diverse lineup for the live series includes Jon Batiste, Patti Smith, Japanese Breakfast, Dominic Fike, Faye Webster, Bleachers, Remi Wolf, and Natalie Bergman with additional surprise performers still to be announced.  Performing artists will be providing a medley of their own compositions as well as covers of other artists with ties to the studio itself.  Speaking of the opportunity to participate in the sessions, alternative band Japanese Breakfast shared, "It was an absolute dream to get to record at Electric Lady. The rooms are filled with good, ancient vibes and the engineers there are unparalleled, so it's no wonder it's such an iconic studio that holds a place in so many legends' hearts."

The general manager of Electric Lady, Lee Foster, had to say of the partnership, “The idea for Live at Electric Lady dates back to as early as the mid-70’s, done typically for various radio stations throughout the years. This, however, is the first time that it’s had a dedicated partner and a concrete plan forward. Having Spotify, its staff, and its know-how has given us the big engine we needed to make this program a success.  As we look to the future of continued curation of great music, content, and events, this partnership is a great step forward in our evolution, which we look forward to for many years to come.”

Live at Electric Lady is welcome collaboration that mixes the old with the new and will look shed some more light on one of the most important musical meccas of the last century.  Coming off his Oscar and Golden Globe-winning soundtrack for Disney/Pixar's Soul, fans can expect to hear Jon Batiste's live EP releasing exclusively on July 29, with more to follow over the coming weeks.  In the meantime, Spotify released its "Electric Lady Studios" playlist that encompasses the iconic songs recorded at New York's quintessential recording space for fans to familiarize themselves with before the live EPs start rolling out.
