IMVU has teamed up with Brooklyn duo Spirit Twin to release their lineup for Spirit World: a virtual music festival experienced through their social media network and free of COVID-19 concern. 50 international artists will use the site's avatar-based, open world experience -the largest of its kind- to record a music video and virtual concert, create an avatar, and stream through Twitch from July 23-25. The festival will feature six uniquely designed stages designated by hyper-pop, electronic, techno, ambient, hardcore, R&B, rap, and experimental genres. The event follows several previous concert experiences put on with the site with Hurt Free Network and Parasite Label. Spirit Twin's Anna and Allen described the catalyst of their collaboration in saying, “We first began using IMVU as a form of virtual therapy. We found that among all the social platforms, IMVU creates a tranquil and inclusive environment.”
The full lineup for the event is available now, featuring thirty-minute sets from artists like Pussy Riot, Cakes Da Killa, and Yves Tumor. Daren Tsui, CEO of IMVU, shared, “Musicians have long turned to IMVU as a source of self-expression, inspiration and connection. We’re always impressed by artists who use the creative tools in IMVU to make entirely original metaverses.” The platform looks to push creativity and the confines of live music outside of the pandemic scenario and into lasting possibilities.
Spirit World will be free to stream through Twitch here. In the meantime, you can create your own avatar and check out IMVU now as it is available on the web, a desktop app, and as an iOS and Android app
