My roommate came into my room last night inquiring about the "Awfully awesome chaos" that I was dancing to. The answer was Crystal Fighters, specifically "Solar System," the flagship track from their debut LP Star of Love. This is worth mentioning considering this was also my first reaction when heard Crystal Fighters over a year ago. Their music is different, at the least. It's made of this odd combination off Folksy "Spanish" and pounding Dance music, built over throttling beats — a combination that sounds like a disaster, but has been groomed to perfection by Crystal Fighters.

Crystal Fighters is touring again, this time to hype up their LONG awaited US release of Star of Love. The tour kicks off on Monday, and we've got some free tickets (a pair for each show), so scroll to the bottom for the details.
Bands like Crystal Fighters are few and far between — their music is unique (in the best of ways), and their live shows are no less exciting. Combine this with a backstory like theirs and you have one of the most interesting groups in recent memory. Unlike many, their oddity isn't simply a cry for attention. Based off of the writings of Laure Stockley's (vocals) grandfather's deranged manuscripts for a lost opera, their name, music and live performances are all stemmed from the ideas he formulated.
