Looks like there will be a huge southern rap movement coming up this year when you consider the fact that Big K.R.I.T. has had such a successful "revival" of sorts. And now, David Banner is preparing to drop his Sex, Drugs, and Video Games mixtape which will be one his most ambitious endeavors yet. I mean the music will be dope, of course, but the ambitious part is that he's releasing it for free and only asking for donations to "The Movement" which drops on May 22nd. Here's what he had to say about it:
"This movement is to start controlling our own music, movies and content…PERIOD! As David Banner states “We are not simply characters in a video game being controlled by the invisible hand. Once this donation goal is met, I’m going to shoot a movie that will drop 5-22-2013 and a portion of the donations are also going to charity. Big shout out to Louie C.K. for the motivation. Download this mixtape for FREE and make sure to support the movement. Hell, even if you don’t like me, at least support the movement, because that’s what this is all really about.”
You have to appreciate the ingenuity and until May 22nd; he has released the track "Believe" which features fellow Mississippi rapper Big K.R.I.T. Enjoy.
