Electronic musician and composer Bayonne (AKA Roger Sellers) has released his new single, “Oxygen”, alongside the announcement of his upcoming album Filters (via Nettwerk).
Synth-rich and intensely buoyant, Bayonne’s new track “Oxygen” is sonically rich and lovely, bursting with dream-pop energy and a great sense of hope. With dreamy, echoing vocals and a heavy use of electronic elements, listening to “Oxygen” feels like being in a huge field surrounded by bubbles just waiting to pop, in the best sense.
According to Bayonne himself: “I was feeling really anxious about approaching music. I’ve had times in my life where, especially when I’m about to start something, it can be really difficult to get back in that mode. It feels like such a sacred place, and it’s hard to just pop in and out of. In a lot of my songs, I’m having a conversation with myself. Oxygen is me talking to myself about believing in myself again.”
The release of “Oxygen” comes at the same time as Bayonne’s announcement about his upcoming album. Titled Filters, Bayonne’s album is due out on September 4th via Nettwerk, and promises to be a “lush offering of sonic excellence”, and a bright spot for anyone needing one. For anyone who’s already a fan of Bayonne and au faith with the particularities of his sound and style, it won’t be surprising that Filters is promising even more gorgeous soundscapes and pop-forward melodies, and very much is something to anticipate.
