Australian artist/producer JVLY is building towards his forthcoming SUNDERLUXE EP, a deluxe iteration of his 2025 SUNDER EP, and the latest taste comes via a stunning remix of the track "SOUTH" by fellow Sydney project, Mel Blue.
Known for their genre-fluid approach to electronic music, Blue has taken the original and transformed it into a piece that trades high-energy impact for emotional resonance and textured introspection. They lean into a slow-burning, immersive soundscape, utilizing spacious grooves and softer percussion to create a hazy, late-night atmosphere. It’s a masterful reinterpretation that prioritizes patience and weight over urgency.
The remix broadens the already varied sonic palette of the SUNDERLUXE collection—which also features reworkings from Contrecoeur and Lemonade Baby—adding an intimate yet expansive dimension. Mel Blue’s version zeroes in on the track's lyrical theme of breaking repeated, self-limiting patterns, transforming the original's moody reflection into a feeling of acceptance and the "joy that comes with growing," according to the remixers.
JVLY himself expressed his excitement for the collaboration, noting that Mel Blue's signature blend of soul, nostalgia, and energy was perfectly suited for the track. He highlights the remix's vintage UK sound—reminiscent of a Trainspotting soundtrack moment—while still feeling distinctly forward-thinking, perfectly capturing the nostalgic emotion he intended for "SOUTH."
