Edward Rendon unveils a spacey indie rock journey in debut EP “Hopeless Romantic”

Edward Rendon's first EP, "Hopeless Romantic," is a five-track collection that serves as a bold, honest introduction to the Austin-based indie artist. The EP is only a little over 20 minutes long, but it has the emotional depth of a full-length record. It's for people who yearn, are anxious, or just like the sound of dreamy guitar tones.

"Hopeless Romantic" is really about how Rendon has changed as a songwriter and a producer who learned on his own. The project puts together songs he's had for years with ones he's written in a world that seems to be getting more and more out of control. "Crazy Times," the EP's first song, sets the emotional tone with rich guitars and a sense of restless hope. He keeps adding to his sound throughout the record, drawing on the warm tones of Britpop and the floating textures of modern dream pop.

One of the best parts is "Darling You're a Star," a romantic, cosmic slow burn with layered guitars and heartfelt, ballad-style vocals. Like a love letter drifting through space, it is soft, thoughtful, and not afraid to explore the depths of feeling. This is the kind of song that hits you right away, and it shows how Rendon can turn vulnerability into mood.

The six-minute title track, "Hopeless Romantic," is the last song on the EP. It's an epic that doesn't repeat itself. Instead, it grows, falls apart, and comes back together in a sweeping motion that makes for a great, raw, ambitious ending. William Carlson made tracks 1–4, and Rendon took complete creative control of the last track. The EP cements his place in the indie rock and dream pop scene. "Hopeless Romantic" is a promise from an artist who can turn personal fears into universal feelings.
