The year 2025 has been a year of bands and groups reuniting, but also a year of new ones rising. Another boy group is born called JYT, short for Just Your Type, and debuts their first single What U Want. The group consisting of 5 boys ages 15-17 is the newest group signed from Republic Records and songwriter and producer Freddy Wexler. Wexler has worked with artists including Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and groups including BlackPink and The Jonas Brothers.

The 5 boys of this group are Caden, Tyler, Bryan Recker, and Toby, and they do more than just sing, but also dance as seen in their music video for What U Want where their early '2000s pop choreography moves come out.

The song is a catchy tune, just over 2 minutes, where the boys sing about not wanting to play games with a love interest. This person is clearly indecisive and playing mind games as they describe with lyrics, “Hate it when you say that you want me so bad, just to take it right back. Only want what you can′t have, so tell me over and over and over again why we get so close. So what you want (what you want) me to do (me to do)? Say I'm not, say I'm not into you. Pretty lies (pretty lies), hidden truths (hidden truths). Is this not what you want? I′m confused.”

They continue to express the frustration and confusion over mixed signals, questioning the honesty and true desires of the other person as they continue singing, “What I gotta do? What I gotta prove? 'm over pretending that I′m cool with being used. Why can't we be honest, honestly? (Tell me that you can’t). Tell me you don′t see you with me.”

JYT sound like the newest generation of NSYNC-inspired music and are on the road to becoming the next global pop phenomenon. They are also set to release a multi-part docuseries in early 2026 on the groups formation.

Keep up with JYT’s journey:
