Friday Project’s "Nine Lives" captures teen creativity and modern rock adventure

Friday Project is back with a strong statement in their long-awaited album, "Nine Lives." This 9-track album was made when the band was only 15 years old and is a collection of their thoughts and feelings. After a year of hard work, the album captures the raw feelings, restless spirit, and unshakeable ambition of a young band finding their voice while embracing the wide, diverse world of rock music.

"Nine Lives" makes it clear from the start that this is the growth of young creativity, honed by experience and delivered with the urgency of artists who know exactly what they want to say. The album's best songs, "Capitola Coast," "Pick Me Up (When I Fall)," and "Something, Anything," have already gotten a lot of attention. They show how well the band can mix catchy melodies with honest lyrics and lively instrumentation.

Friday Project strikes the perfect balance between modern alternative and classic rock rebellion, taking inspiration from Blink-182's energetic punch, Dominic Fike's emotional grit, and Nirvana's raw edge. But the best thing about "Nine Lives" is how sure the band is of their own style. Every song sounds like them in a unique way, flawed in the best way, completely honest, and full of the kind of passion that only teenagers can create.

Geoff Hlibka helped the band record in Jack's Great Room. They felt like they were in a personal, real, and creatively freeing space. The album's DNA is full of that closeness, which makes each song feel like the band is playing just a few feet away.

Songs like "Kick Me," "You're All I Need," and the electrifying "Gunfight" will immediately draw in listeners. Each one has its own emotional weight and sound. Nine Lives gives you a consistent but varied listening experience over its 32 minutes and 42 seconds. It has punchy riffs, vulnerable lyrics, and melodies that stick with you long after the song is over.

Friday Project stands out in today's crowded music scene by being themselves real, flexible, and not afraid to show their feelings. Nine Lives is a statement about who they are and where they're going next.
