As Hispanic Heritage Month begins, Guatemalan singer and creative director Ruben Gonzalez Carrillo, artistically known as Ben Carrillo, dedicates a song specifically to all the Central American women.

The 30-year-old, who came to the United States at 15 seeking to live out his American dream, introduces a new single from his upcoming album, Dreamer, set to be released on Oct. 16. Mostly in Spanish with a touch of English, Carrillo emphasizes the beauty of Latina women and their culture.

With reggaeton beats, he sings, “I met a baddie from Guatemala, ay que rico una centroamericana,” but he continues to show love to all the other women from the surrounding countries. “Pasanme el menu, yo no voy pa’l norte baby voy pal sur, una belizeña con fucking actitud, una mi chapina, yeah she got the moves, una salvadoreña y su pupusa uff, un de la Honduras sabor a bubbaloo, traiganme una Nica, morenita, panameña y una tica." Tica refers to women from Costa Rica.

He also highlights how Central American women are warriors, yet know how to have fun with lines like: “No te metas con mi gata, que te pasa, ella es de América Central. Una guerrera maya, que te mata con su forma de perrear.”

At the end of the track, he says, “For all my Central American baddies, I love you.”

Carrillo has been releasing music and music videos on his YouTube channel since 2014. He released his first album in 2020 and has since worked with Hispanic artists, including Thalía, and producers such as Ovy On The Drums.

The music video for “CENTROAMERICANA” features Carrillo dancing, eating, and enjoying drinks with Central American women, proudly representing their countries with flags.

You don’t need to understand Spanish to feel the Hispanic charm in this song. Whether you’re at the beach in Nicaragua, enjoying a pupusa in El Salvador, sipping a piña colada in Guatemala, or anywhere else in the world, it will make you want to get up and dance.
