Amy Jay's new track, "Margins," was released today, September 12, and is the first single from her upcoming second album, Mnemonics, which is set to be released on November 7. Jay is also scheduled to play shows across the U.S. throughout the rest of September and October.
The track is upbeat rock with a folky undertone. In it, Jay describes insecurity as living "in the margins" and fear as a shadow, both of which follow us and are ready to strike at any moment.
Through all of this, however, Jay remains extremely hopeful, singing, "I want everyone to feel important" and "I really think that we have inherent worth." These lines express Jay's belief that much fear can be overcome and that a better life awaits on the other side.
The track's instrumentation is energetic and easy-flowing, and Jay has a voice that soothes and perfectly matches her optimistic and assured lyrics.
"Margins" is available for listening on streaming platforms now.
