“Sunday Morning (Ain’t So Easy)” is a track that instantly transports you to the ’90s.
The What Four deliver an indie-pop banger that’s as nostalgic as it is lyrically quirky and melodically catchy—a song that might even make you want to rewatch 10 Things I Hate About You right after listening.
They bring the fun, and it’s hard to ignore—drawing inevitable sonic comparisons to Dexys Midnight Runners’ “Come On Eileen.”
So if you wake up on a Sunday morning hungover and in a bad mood, The What Four might just get you better than you think.
On the meaning behind the track, the band explains: “’Sunday Morning’ is laced with deep lingering regret of the night before. Although, in spite of better judgment, impulse burns through reason, and we find ourselves doing it all over again.”
The What Four features vocalist and musician Katie Stratton; Marc Orrell, best known as a former member of the Boston Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys; Jeff Roffredo, a renowned psychobilly and reggae upright bassist known for his work with The Aggrolites and Tiger Army; and multi-instrumentalist songwriter Ryan Ratfield. They are also joined by vocalists Tara Morris and Molly Madden.
So what are you waiting for? “Sunday Morning (Ain’t So Easy)” is the perfect track to whet your appetite for The What Four’s artistry.
