Stray Blue, the revered trio of the Greek indie underground, is back with a stunning new release, "Wake Up & Smile," out now on limited edition 7 vinyl. Out July 18, this EP commemorates the band’s two decades of existence and is a collection of deeply personal storytelling woven with acoustic warmth that feels like it could have easily been released at any time over the past two decades, but feels fresh and intimate.
The Two-track 7-minute-plus EP features the heartfelt “Wake Up & Smile – Acoustic Version” and the hypnotic “Moody Sky,” with Yoed Nir on cello. The two songs together represent the heart of Stray Blue's art, a collection of genuine melodies and crafted lyrics along with an ability to affect you in a place you did not know was deep inside.
“Wake Up & Smile – Acoustic Version” shines due to its bare bones instrumentation, which enables the heart-on-sleeve poetry to burst forth truly. It’s a song for resilience, for finding reasons to smile despite the challenges life presents, and it shines with confidence that things will turn out all right. And “Moody Sky,” buoyed by Yoed Nir’s affecting strings, offers lush, cinematic sound with an introspective and uplifting touch.
