Rising UK-hailing, LA-based indie-pop singer, songwriter, and producer Harvey Brittain shares debut mixtape my heart keeps score, an emotive eight-track collection that weaves through themes of growing up, moving on and learning what love and identity mean.
From the minimal instrumentals and bold delivery of soaring opening track “tangerine,” to the anthemic feels of “obsessed,” the EP is expansive and intricate as it unveils Britain’s signature blend of Britpop nostalgia and modern indie-pop flair.
With acoustic instrumentals and deep vocal tones which shine brightest on the enchanting title track and “broken hearts lie,” the collection moves from strength to strength with its powerful yet grounding styling.
Each impactful note builds to the heartfelt rendition of “somewhere only we know,” which closes out the project which marks a fresh chapter in Brittain’s musical journey.
Speaking of the mixtape, he says, "my heart keeps score is the first full body of work I’ve ever released and it’s easily the most personal. These eight tracks tell my story from growing up in Preston, a small town in the north of the UK where not much really goes on in the world, to uprooting everything and chasing my music career halfway across the world in the chaos of LA."
Delivering a saccharine pop world layered in tinges of vulnerability, Harvey Brittain crafts stories worth telling – cementing his status as an act to keep on your radar.
