London-based artist Luke Deacon, the mind behind easyclear, has announced his debut EP Green, set for release on May 2nd, alongside his radiant new single "Teammate."
Having honed his craft in bands like Young Khan (an early incarnation of Sea Girls) and Kid Jupiter, Deacon has developed a distinctive solo sound, blending organic folk elements with sprawling electronics and indie touches, creating a style that recalls the likes of Westerman and Djo.
"Teammate" captures this hybrid approach perfectly, driven by shuffling drums, warming bass, fingerpicked guitar, and dappled synth textures, with Deacon’s emotive vocals leading the way through a bittersweet world of wet turf, rain, and memory. Speaking about the track, he says: “Teammate is a song about companionship in its many forms. Through sporting references it espouses the values of trust, commitment and mutual support.
Produced by Alex O’Donovan, the Green EP explores the friction between nature and the digital world, with the EP to showcase songs that evolve into lush, synth-washed landscapes, creating a warm, retro-futuristic feel.
