In his first single since 2023's NORTHEND GNARLY, San Bernardino based rapper Cam Gnarly returns to protect his energy.
Representing the Northend is California's own Cam gnarly, a San Bernadino born and raised rapper taking his accomplishments into his strides and serving as a positive figure in his community.
While Gnarly is a wizard with conjuring anthemic choruses that are drenched in West Coast influences, “Calling All My Energy” takes a softer approach, invoking this sense of nostalgia. The piano keys supporting Gnarly’s singing on the intro paints a feeling I’d get from watching Mr. Rogers at my tias house when I was home sick. It’s comforting.
The beat is minimal, cruising solely on by some drum kicks and supported by some cozy instrumentation with the saxophone. It allocates space for Gnarly to ride the beat and to take the spotlight, giving him room to flex his singing chops. Additional vocals from Kayana give the track another layer to make for a great listen.
