Hard-working West Coast emcee Showtime Ramon teams up with Brooklyn, New York producer ProjectPorter for a 5-track EP entitled Pressure. The EP is their second collaborative project since last year's hard-hitting Speed and continues Showtime Ramon's music release streak.
The project kicks off with “Car Chase,” a cinematic track bolstered by ProjectPorter’s layered and enthralling soundscape and Showtime Ramon's expressive flow. This track sets the stage, throwing audiences right into the mix as the rapper takes charge. It transitions into “Backseat,” a brass-stab-driven track that features Hempstead, New York rapper Gustavo Louis.
As longtime collaborators, the duo's chemistry is unmatched and seamless, with Gustavo Louis flexing on his opponents and dropping references from Tommy Hilfiger to Grand Puba. Showtime Ramon isn’t far behind with his off-kilter rhyme schemes.
Other notable tracks include “Madonna” and “Pipe Dream,” where ProjectPorter showcases his diverse production skills. The former features an ’80s-style sample flip, paying homage to the pop icon, while Showtime raps about a relationship tied to his past life. “Pipe Dream” embodies the spirit of cruising down California’s coast, but it’s emboldened by Showtime Ramon's edgy wordplay and boisterous bravado.
Overall, Pressure is short yet cohesive in both sound and lyrical aesthetics. Showtime Ramon sticks to his terrain, delivering unapologetic bars laced with pop references, innuendos, and off-kilter quips.
