Zimbabwean-born and London-raised singer/songwriter Ashleigh Bankx unveils her new single "Miss You" as the follow-up to "How Far" which was released earlier this year. "Miss You" sees the singer fusing heavy afropop rhythms with modern UK R&B/soul aesthetics. Backed by lush guitar riffs, overwhelmingly sublime textures, and hypnotic drum grooves, Bankx shares a tale of heartbreak and love that refuses to fade away. Even with the emotional pain, she pours her all on wax with lines like "I don't wanna see your face but I miss you/ I keep running back the times when I miss you/I keep on running from emotions, that's the issue."
The song is not attached to any project for now but we might be getting a debut EP or album from the uprising singer.
Zimbabwean-born and London-raised, Ashleigh Bankx is a breath of fresh air, who brings with her a unique combination of musical influences to distinguish her from the crowd.
Ashleigh Bankx grew up initially listening to Zimbabwean gospel music, afro jazz influenced by a style of township rhythm that evolved in the southern part of Africa, and sungura (a local Zimbabwean genre consisting of lead, rhythm and bass guitar melodies), before arriving in the UK as a child and falling in love with R&B/soul, pop and hip-hop. She officially started making music in 2020 after receiving her law degree from Brunel University, London.
