Jetty Bones weathers trouble with new single ‘Rain’s Comin’’

Indie pop singer Jetty Bones returned once again Sunday with her latest single “Rain’s Comin'" being released everywhere after premiering on Bandcamp Friday.

The new song marks her second release of the year following the single release of “Sleeping with Snails” back in May.

”Rain’s Comin’” stands out from the rest of Jetty Bones’s back catalog by being an intentionally danceable track, with frontwoman Kelc Galluzzo even describing it as a sister song to her 2021 track “Dolly” on social media.

Fittingly, the song takes on more of a country sound, with acoustic guitars strumming together and Galluzzo’s twang being more pronounced. Drums come in during the second verse to add to the song’s more upbeat energy.

Rather than contrasting the instrumental like on “Dolly,” the lyrics of “Rain’s Comin’” serve to complement the song’s composition, speaking about turning to a loved one for comfort from a metaphorical storm. There is some nuance here, as Galluzzo sings that despite feeling abandoned by their loved one before, she still can feel safe and trusting of them.

While Galluzzo has promised more of a return to depressing form with future releases, “Rain’s Comin’” puts a much-welcome pep in Jetty Bones’s step that is ready to soundtrack your next square dance and hints at further musical exploration on her next full-length.
