Nigerian music icon and afro dancehall legend Timaya's new project Gladiator is a 13-track body of work that lives up to the title. It's a triumphant ode and powerful testament to his enduring musical legacy spanning two decades without any sign of slowing down. Throughout the project, he reminds us of his resilience, consistency, and artistic growth laced with introspection and reflective themes. From the opening "PAYBACK" with its punchy hip-hop drum groove and rich chords, Timaya looks back at his humble beginnings and the hurdles he had to overcome to attain success. On "SWEET US," Timaya takes us back to his Dancehall roots with a bright nostalgic Caribbean-tinged production underpinned by his laidback commanding flow and a farewell message to the haters.

Tracks like "COMPOZURE" and "FREE," showcase Timaya's versatility with the former steeped in romance while the latter offers an introspective look into Timaya’s current state of mind as he runs through his journey thus far. He doesn't do it all alone though as he brings in Nigerian R&B/pop royalty Tiwa Savage to add her sultry vibes on "IN MY HEAD," Eugy Official adds his unique touch on the celebratory "BLESSINGS" and the trio of Alpha P, Olamide and Phyno on the bouncy "TREASURE." With this album, Timaya continues to inspire, uplift, and empower his listeners, proving once again why he remains a towering figure in African music and the global music landscape at large.
