Singer-songwriter Nicollette Sullivan has just shared an irresistible cover of Don McLean's single "Vincent". The folk laced track is released alongside an enthralling and artistic music video.
With "Vincent", Nicollette Sullivan gives her own unique and whimsical take on the classic song. The track chronicles the life of the renowned artist Vincent Van Gogh and how he was met with adversity and unappreciation during his time as an artist. Lyrics including, "Now, I understand what you tried to say to me / and how you suffered for your sanity/ and how you tried to set them free / they would not listen, they did not know how," tell the story of a genius who was recognized during his lifetime. Musically, Nicollette Sullivan gives a signature spin on the track with her graceful vocals layered delicately and deliberately making for a compelling listen. Folk drenched guitars and angelic piano notes complete the soothing ballad. In the music video, Sullivan is transformed into subjects of Van Gough paintings with bold and dramatic brush strokes mirroring the vivid sonic offering.
Nicollette Sullivan grew up in a household filled with music, with both of her parents being singers. Exposed to a myriad of types of music styles as a child, Sullivan found her inspiration mostly with Jazz singers Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Nina Simone. Her debut self-titled album was shared in 2021 and she is currently working on new music.
