Viral alt pop goddess Emei is back with another candid banger. Called "Cynical", the song is shared alongside a cinematic music video and is the title track of her highly anticipated upcoming EP.

In "Cynical" Emei shares a song all about her need to destroy peace and tranquility in her own life. This autobiographical narrative also highlights the highly relatable narrative of feeling safe when things are in chaos. Emei sings, "Things are in their place / all kept in a row / soon as they feel safe / I get bored / why do I have to be so / cynical." Musically, "Cynical" is an invigorating and hard-hitting edgy pop anthem. The song features kaleidoscopic synths and hooky melodies. A fervent and intense chorus entices with gritty and liberating rock-drenched landscapes for a must listen. The music video directed by Aser Santos is a striking Tim Burton inspired affair complete with fast paced cuts and moody blue hues. The video also includes a dynamic and electrifying performance by Emei.

Since first releasing music in 2021, Chinese-American singer/songwriter Emei has been taking the world by storm with her authentic and raw storytelling, charismatic vocal delivery and infectious alt pop releases. The artist is set to embark on her first tour in support of her upcoming EP this fall. Take a listen to "Cynical" now and remember you are not alone in your struggles.
